Our republic has elements,

Get to pick their constituents,

“Crimes against geography,”

Also known as gerrymandering,

Democrats and Republicans,

Increasing the odds of their re-elections,

 

We have, as a nation,

Turned over our futures,

Forty-six times,

Two-hundred and forty-five years since the founding of the republic,

To one chief executive,

That for one significant 2008 perturbation,

Has always been

White, Anglo Saxon Protestant, Cisgender males,

 

Without exception,

The chief executive,

Was created,

Post the articles of confederation,

To significantly reduce democracy,

Among the new nation’s citizenry,

Elites that didn’t want to pay the British crown taxes,

Favored the franchise of voting only for themselves: a monied oligarchy,

A sentiment passed down to their descendants,

 

The US Senate consists of two statewide elected representatives,

Whether California, Texas, Rhode Island, or Wyoming,

With the addition of Alaska and Hawaii,

In the forty-ninth and fiftieth states,

Was both strategic and pragmatic:

 

One that peered at the Russian bear,

Across the Bearing Straits,

The last as PR to tell the planet that we’re “not so racist,”

 

That expansion suddenly ended,

When considering,

Adding just four stars

And eight more senators,

To the US family:

Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, or Washington, DC,

 

Belying the evidence,

Broadcast on global televisions,

Of black bodies getting hosed, beaten, bitten, killed, and imprisoned,

For voting rights extended by

The Fifteenth, Nineteenth Amendments,

Codified,

By the Civil and Voting Rights Acts

In 1964 and 1965,

 

“Let me clear my throat,”

 

Forget the swamp: we dodged the crocodile moat,

American oligarchs,

Their Russian, European, and Chinese counterparts,

Are interconnected with one another,

Over dark web platforms, we cannot access,

And, ALL are over pretending to like or even tolerate democratic republics,

 

Rupert Murdoch owns Fox propaganda and the Wall Street Journal,

Pushing their toadies in Congress,

To overthrow an election,

When there’s more evidence of voter suppression,

Long lines in people of color neighborhoods or college campuses,

Were it not for denials; it should be an embarrassment,

 

Than rigging elections,

Favorable to democrats,

Stealing ballots and limiting dropbox places,

Has been the obsession,

Of Neo-confederates,

 

They ignored their GOP 2012 Autopsy,

In favor of a turn to autocracy,

Astroturfed by American oligarchy,

 

“Let me clear my throat,”

 

EVERY election is existential,

This year’s 2021 election no less consequential,

When Adelson, Bezos, and the Mercers,

Shoehorn crackpots and zealots,

In local elections,

It is the difference between the election of the proverbial dog catcher,

Being a humanitarian,

Or, a sociopath,

 

140 in the House, and 11 in the Senate,

Happily signed onto a clown show of kangaroo sedition,

 

It is the difference between:

Civil Rights, Human Rights, LGBT Rights, Women’s Rights,

Following, instead of denying science,

As well as the US Constitution,

Clean water to drink,

Clean air to breathe,

Justice in the justice system,

Addressing climate change,

Not by the racist pejorative “Chinese hoax,”

Ironically recycled for coronavirus denial: we see how that worked,

 

Everything rests on the results,

Whether Raphael Warnock AND Jon Ossoff,

Are BOTH victorious,

Or, we have four more years of obstruction,

And, can’t even SPELL democracy,

Democracy means “rule of the people,”

“We the people” are empowered, peers,

Which is authoritarianism’s greatest fear,
