400,000...

Four-hundred lights at the Lincoln Reflecting Pool,

Each times one-thousand,

Representing the four-hundred thousand souls,

Who’s lives were spent

By the high-costly four years of incompetence,

Morgues getting wavers for more crematorium

Fires for the bodies they cannot normally contend with,

Because this was NOT a normal event,

Starting with one individual from China,

January 20, 2019,

We were told lies and omissions,

The people who died didn’t vote for him,

But sadly, some of them did,

Lie, and lie, and lie again,

Calculating obfuscations by the Washington Post was useless,

He’s incapable of admission, guilt, or course correction,

We kept waiting for him to hit bottom,

This ghoulish Kremlin gopher kept tunneling,

Partial border walls Mexico didn’t pay for,

Muslim bans,

Anti-trans and LGBT mandates in the US military,

Throwing Central American children in cages,

Finding “both sides equal” between anti-fascists and Neo-Nazis,

Gutting environmental regulations,

Multiple active shooter situations like Parkland,

Fill-in-the-blank-while-black assassinations,

And of course, the botching of the pandemic,

It’s ONE-YEAR anniversary January 20,

Followed up by inciting violence and insurrection at the Nation’s Capitol,

On that day, we inaugurate a new President and Vice President,

Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris,

The first public grievance on the 19th by the President-elect and Vice President-elect,

African Americans Lori Key and Yolanda Adams,

Singing “Amazing Grace” and “Hallelujah,”

We have lost four-hundred thousand souls,

We are likely to lose hundreds of thousands more,

We are at best cases in for a long haul,

To recover from these unbearable losses,

Across the country, candles lit,

Bells ringing,

Tears shed, people, singing,

Somber reflection not led by the pretender,

A single-term dead-ender,

Throwing himself a salute of gaseous nothingness,

For what he considers his “accomplishments,”

As he slips out and slinks back to Florida,

Knowing he failed, but never admitting it,

Internet addiction plus malignant narcissism,

It was almost a mass extinction event,

Born of ignorance, racism, and astonishing incompetence,

His access on Twitter should have been cut WEEKS before this,

Four-hundred lights at the Lincoln Reflection Pool,

Each times one-thousand,

Representing the four-hundred thousand

Lives that we have lost,

The only memorial rendered was beautiful,

Not by the outgoing,

But the INCOMING president,

After four years of abject madness,

Seemed normal,

Dignified,

Ethereal,

And after four exhausting years of gaslighting, national PTSD, death, and obfuscations: refreshingly noble.
